Instagram Story Vs Instagram post

Did an experiment: 2 weeks of JUST Feed Posts followed by 2 weeks of JUST Stories.

Before implementing any new strategy for our clients, always test it out on ourselves first.

One of the questions that we have been receiving a lot lately is:

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

- Now obviously we know that they ARE important, but HOW important?⠀⠀⠀

- More so than feed posts?⠀⠀⠀⠀

- Are they a GOOD to have or a NEED to have?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

wanted to find out once and for all so did a little experiment… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2 weeks of just FEED posts.

2 weeks of just STORIES.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And here’s what I found:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

📲 Stories trigged ENGAGEMENT

📲 Feed posts lead to SALES⠀

During the two weeks that I spent only on Instagram Stories, I received more DMs than ever before. Engagement was through the roof. HOWEVER, our website clicks and inquiries were at an all-time low.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On the contrary, during the two weeks that I spent just posting on the feed (no stories), our engagement was good but more notable was our website traffic and new client inquiries. These had a direct correlation to our feed posts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Now it’s clear that the perfect social media equation includes both STORIES and FEED posts. BUT if we had to choose which is the MOST important for a business, feed posts win 10x over!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As businesses, our livelihood depends on our ability to drive traffic and sales to an owned source (whether that’s a website, store, email, etc.)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

DMs are great. 💌 But if they’re not converting into sales then they are not enough to stand on their own! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The feed is where CONVERSIONS happens. Stories are just the cherry on top! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
