We Breed Anger and a Lack of Respect for Life

Yet we wonder why there are so many tragedies

I said it before and I’ll say it again, we have got to stop glorifying things that breed anger and a lack of respect for life. I am truly saddened by the events that occurred yesterday at an elementary school.

I don’t have a narrative that is politically connected with this article. All I have is compassion for human life.

When are we going to wake up and realize that constantly ingesting things that spew hate, murder, drugs, gangs, and other things along this line breed anger and destruction?

When are we going to admit that we took a turn for the worse as the lines of things becoming acceptable grew inch by inch?

Language that was once considered vulgar is now used common in dialogue. Just open TikTok and you will hear F bombs thrown around left and right. Move that line a little more.

Things that were once considered rated R in things slowly became more acceptable. Television shows have become more inappropriate or immoral. Move that line a little more.

Video games that were once nonexistent because of extreme violence are now more common than not. I can’t tell you how many kids play GTA and think it’s funny to shoot and rape people in the game. Keep on moving the line.

I know these are all tiny things, but these all keep moving a line of what is appropriate and acceptable. As that line moves, we become desensitized to the negative things we ingest constantly.

As we become more desensitized, we think less and less about how these things negatively impact the world.

Sure, argue that those things don’t really make a big difference, but the state of our country paints a different picture. You will probably never convince me otherwise.

People think I am crazy for some of the limits that I set on my children, but why do they need to be exposed to so much at a young age? Why can’t we just let them be kids that don’t play video games filled with violence?

I fear for the future because I know there is no going back. Once you move that line, it is hard to move it back.

Maybe this was a rant. Maybe it will make sense to someone. I know that it won’t create some great change, but maybe it will make someone think a little more about the level of the things they expose their children to when they are younger.
