I love this one building. Why? Because it doesn’t exist anymore. It’s become a yearning kind of love — probably the same kind some could say of the feelings we have for our parents when they’ve gone because of their possessed innate beauty that speaks more than in words.
So, it’s also a heartbreaking kind of love because the original beauty has been dismantled and also overlooked, so, at the same time, it is a glowing love because it has a grandeur that can’t be kept to one’s self. It has to be written about, of course — to share about how awesome it once was and how fortunate we still have memories and records of what is left to reexamine its past glory; to enjoy it if not on paper, then in our imaginations through the storytelling.
And in this case, it happens to be a real-life political site as well, so though ever the love for its original existence was already there, it was inevitable to feel such a deep disappointment (because of politics) of the final outcome; of course, the powers that be would decide NOT to resurrect the original structure, even though it was completely possible to do so, but the deal is now done, and the political solution that was sealed and revealed in a “grand opening” happened the beginning of this year (1 Jan 2021). Thus, it was ever more the reason for me to write about and share in an educational way through my own personal style about this original building otherwise it would not be evident to many who would have no idea of what it could have been — and realize the public has been deprived of original beauty of design, of amazing architecture, and of a much finer vision.
So, I began my story. I had always wanted to actually be there in the building itself when it was alive. Like, when the technology has finally caught up with us, and if I could take the “one” trip back in time, this would be that trip I would take to see and hang out in this building for a while and admire its entire structure, and show you the breadth and elements of detail, and have us also watch the everyday people enjoy it then.
I recently wanted to have shortcut to my favorite files — all the org files under my ~/org directory. Being not familiar enough with Emacs to write my own file chooser library, I Googled for help and…
